Premi�re Biographie des Cocteau Twins

Cette biographie bien document�e tient pour th�me la singularit� de Cocteau Twins dans sa dynamique, mais aussi dans sa quete pour donner un sens � leur son. Elle explique le d�calage du groupe par rapport � la sc�ne de l'�poque. Les enjeux esth�tiques deviennent alors une d�marche non pas en r�action � la new wave, au gothique ou � l'After Punk, mais centr�e autour des trois membre du groupe. On peut ainsi partiellement comprendre, sinon esquisser, la d�marche initialement autistique de Robin Guthrie, � mon sens l'un des guitaristes les plus importants de la fin du 20�me si�cle. Une �bauche se fait autour d'Elizabeth Fraser, montrant une jeune femme � la recherche de sa propre lumi�re int�rieure dans sa voix et ses mots. On regrettera la faible part, � mon sens, accord�e � Simon Raymonde, qui, on le soupsconne, fut le liant, le fr�re, l'ami, celui par qui le groupe put tenir si longtemps sous la tension du couple infernal.
La th�se de la singularti� de Cocteau Twins tenue, l'auteur peut mettre le groupe � l'origine de mouvement musicaux plus r�cent. On felicitera Jean-Christophe Manuceau pour accorder une grande part de son ouvrage au label 4AD, a ses cr�ateur, aux graphistes de 23 Env. mais aussi aux membres du groupes qui continuent leures carri�res en solo.
Esp�rons que cette premi�re biographie redonne � Robin Guthrie au moins la place qu'il m�rite dans l'histoire de la musique parmis les meilleurs guitaristes de sa g�n�ration avec les Bernard Butler, Johnny Marr, Tom Verlaine.

Great aid for Passing PMI-ACP

I have passed the exam recently and this book was a real help for me.

This is a pure question answer book. But it helped me to find out the tiny little gaps what I had in my studies.
The explanations are the real strength. So once you give any exam in the book take enough time to review the answers and the detailed explanations thoroughly.

A great set of practice tests!

I just passed the PMI-ACP and this book was an important study tool which contributed to my success.

This book is nothing but practice tests...and THAT is part of it's strength. The real strength lies in the answer keys with authoritative citations from the source references upon which the PMI-ACP exam is based. Also, the practice exams alternate between "Mock Exams" which cover all knowledge areas and tools and techniques, and targeted exams which cover specific knowledge areas. The "Mock Exams" get progressively harder until you get to the last three which are extremely difficult, but doable if you've gone methodically through the book and "learned" from where you missed earlier questions. This is reference is invaluable if you really want to become a PMI-ACP.

About the Author
Stephen Kesler is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Michigan and a leading expert in the field of mineral resources. He has taught economic geology for almost 50 years, and has worked with numerous exploration, mining, and energy companies worldwide. His research interests include geology and geochemistry of ore deposits, and mineral exploration and economics.

Adam Simon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Michigan, specialising in economic geology, igneous petrology and geochemistry. He combines field, laboratory and experimental work to investigate the physical and chemical evolution of magmatic systems and the formation of ore deposits.

An excellent reference source and survey overview of economic minerals use and distribution in the Earths crust. The primary strenghts presented include a nice mix of technical geological process information which results in the known distribution of minerals and their use in society and the economics of minerals. The social license to mine in areas of high consumption is nicely presented along with the debates about who's backyard should extractive industries be located? Future editions could include more information on best practices for environmental protection, regulatory oversight and permitting, engineering controls, and monitoring at modern mining locations, and lessons learned from historical mining sites with respect to environmental impacts and the costs associated with those impacts.

The supervisor tells her, her job is at risk if she doesn't forget about the recording. She decides the truth is more important than her job. She smuggles the recording out of the NSA. Returning home she posts it on the internet from a public library.

The public is shocked and split between not believing the recording is real and those who believe it and demand action.

Congress debates the issue for months when public pressure becomes so hot, two Congressmen are recalled for not voting for Impeachment. The Speaker of the House calls for debate on articles of Impeachment that include, a charge of second degree murder, lying under oath and treason. The President's supporters threaten a race war if Congress moves ahead with the Impeachment.

This book was a great jaunt into what reality SHOULD be.

This book is my dream come true and what honestly should happen to the current administration. The book gives alternative history that is a real joy to read. It gives you a sense of satisfaction from the ending of two dynasties of the Clintons and Obamas. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the ending was rushed and I did not get the full satisfaction the rest of the book gave me from seeing justice come to these people.
If you enjoy alternative history and ever have wondered about Obamas motives it is a excellent fiction that I believe is pretty close to true.

I was very impressed!

I recieved this book as a gift and I am so glad I did, because if I had read the previous review first I probably would never have bought it for myself.
I must preface this review by saying I have never written an amazon review before,however after seeing only one other review (and such a critical and irrelevant one) I felt compelled to defend this book.

When I got this book I couldn't put it down. It is so full of wonderful, relevant information and I felt as though it was constantly answering the questions I had. I am new to chickens as well, this is my first year raising them and I have only had mine for about 15 weeks now. This book was perfect for me. I also appreciated greatly that it was so current. There is a large focus on urban chicken keeping which I think will be very helpful for a lot of people. Chicken tractors, addressing the difficulties and possibilities in raising organic birds, pastured poultry, the benefits and alternatives to the difficulties with modern breeds and hatchery dependency-it was all there!

I also really loved how fun the book was. The author came across as a causual guy who just loves chickens and wants people to realize how very easy and enjoyable it can be to raise these wonderful animals. He also fills the pages with very interesting little tidbids that keep you thinking 'no way! that is too cool!'.

I give this book an easy 5 stars. I found it very relevant and simple for the novice chicken owner. If you are just considering making the plunge into chickens I would recommend you buy this book first. Is it the only chicken book you will ever need? Well of course not, but it is a wonderful and relevant start.

chickens don't mind idiots

This book encourages people to raise chickens by explaining just how easy and unscripted it can be. The first reviewer missed the point entirely, trying to get at very narrow formulas, while the author does all he can to assure us that chickens are flexible enough to fit into every situation. Every question that she said to be unanswered I found answered. The whole point is that one doesn't have to have a standardized coop, or a standardized model, and it is obvious that that was the case when our grandparents relied on them for part of their food requirements. He makes the point that feral chickens prosper and need no help to thrive at all. The book's information allows one to get started without the fear of needing a precise and uniform method. This was exactly what I wanted to hear.

The book also contains specifics and sets guidelines about brooding, feeding, health maintenance, and using the end products. All aspects of the management of the birds are covered, along with some history. There is just enough detail for the beginner and some information that I think could help the more experienced. Belanger makes the argument that chickens are one of the easiest domestic animals to use to be more independent of industrialized agriculture. They can be raised in the city, in the country, and with a very small investment; and he does this with light-hearted style. It is well written.

I would highly rate this book and recommend it to anyone who wants to get into chickens. It would be good for those who just need a little advice to jump in, and to those who are already making good use of these adaptable and profitable livestock.

I have never raised chickens, so wanted to know what I was getting into. This book was a quick, easy read and gave me the exact information I needed to start my flock. I have pulled it down a couple times since getting my girls for quick reference.

About the Author

Paris Buttfield-Addison is a producer and co-founder at Secret Lab, a mobile development studio based in beautiful Hobart, Australia. Secret Lab builds games for mobile devices, and primarily for children, such as the AIMIA winning (2014) ABC Play School apps for iPad.

Paris formerly worked with Meebo (which was acquired by Google) as mobile product manager. He has a BA in History, and a PhD in Computing/HCI, and has written nearly a dozen technical, game design, and mobile development books, mostly for O’Reilly Media.

Jon Manning is a world renown iOS development trainer and writer, game designer and mobile software engineering wizard.

He has co-authored two books on mobile development and enjoys re-implementing such things as OpenGL and the Objective-C runtime (in his spare time).

Jon is also a researcher in Human-Computer Interaction working towards a PhD.

Tim Nugent pretends to be a mobile app developer, game designer, PhD student, and now he even pretends to be an author. When he isn't busy avoiding being found out as a fraud, he spends most of his time designing and creating little apps and games he won't let anyone see. Tim spent a disproportionately long time writing this tiny little bio, most of which was spent trying to stick a witty sci-fi reference in, before he simply gave up.
