WE WERE MEANT FOR EACH OTHER. None of us are fully equipped to excel in life. Our weaknesses, blind spots, limited capabilities, and lack of experience all point to one thing-interdependence. Which is why connecting with others plays such an indispensable role in healthy development. Having access to the wisdom, experience, vision, and direction of those who have gone before can put you years ahead of where you’d be on your own. And, in addition to enhancing you own potential in all of life’s growth areas (spiritual, emotional, professional, relational, etc.), the things you’ll discover will equip you to help others as well. So why don’t we place more of a priority on developing these essential, empowering relationships? Are we uneasy with the vulnerability, assuming it will be perceived as weakness? Do we hesitate to ask, not wanting to impose on anyone else’s busy schedule? Are we reluctant to provide guidance for others, not wanting to come across as proud or self-important? Each of these factors can play a part, of course. But the main reason we miss out, according to Stanley and Clinton, is that we simply don’t understand the true nature of mentoring-a problem that is easily overcome.

About the Author
Dr. J. Robert (Bobby) Clinton is Professor of Leadership at the School of Intercultural Studies of Fuller Theological Seminary. He has coordinated the leadership concentration in the School of Intercultural Studies for more than 25 years. Bobby models and teaches the concepts of lifelong development and of the focused life, as well as the importance of mentoring to develop leaders. Before coming to Fuller, he and his wife, Marilyn, served as missionaries for Worldteam in Jamaica. His writings, besides the leadership commentary series, include numerous biblical examples of leadership development. His publications include: The Making of A Leader; Leadership Emergence Theory; Connecting—Mentoring Relationships; The Mentor Handbook; Focused Lives; Strategic Concepts— That Clarify a Focused Life; and Having a Ministry That Lasts—By Becoming a Bible Centered Leader. His major focus in writing and teaching now is to help leaders inform their leadership from the Bible.

Dr. Clinton has studied each of the books of the Bible from a leadership perspective. His book, The Bible and Leadership Values, contains that initial research on the Bible. From this study he has selected the top 25 books that contribute much to leadership thought. For each book of his Biblical Leadership Commentary Series, Dr. Clinton comments on the text from a leadership standpoint. He defines leadership concepts, which shed light on the leadership implications in the text. Further, Dr. Clinton writes short leadership articles, which further suggest the importance of Biblical insights for leadership. Fourteen leadership commentaries have been completed to date: Jonah, Nehemiah, Haggai, Obadiah, Daniel, John, 1,2 Corinthians, Philippians, Titus, 1,2 Timothy, 1, 2 Timothy.

I have really enjoyed the concepts & principles established in this book. I love the idea that you can different mentors that have different roles in your life, and you do not have to wait for one mentor that fits all roles.

If I found out my one true love was dying unless I bonded with him, I certainly wouldn't have him die, especially after my disapproving father died. 2 deaths don't make a right and all that jazz. Seriously. She was going to let him die because her dead dad didn't like his grandparents?

All that being said, it was a good book, it just left a bad taste in my mouth when it ended and that's what I'm rating it on

I'm loving Entangled's Covet new release, Beauty and the Werewolf was such a great book to read. Not only was it a page-turner, but it was also filled with romance and a little travel adventure.

Isabelle Connelly comes from a royal wolf clan that has been known for not liking the San Francisco clan. So when she decides to travel to San Francisco to collect a very special painting, she didn't know that the stranger who ended up winning the bidding for the painting was non other than Jack MacGrath, her father's enemy. Yet knowing that she can't go home without the painting, she decides to go on a date with Jack only to have him tell her that she is his mate. You can already guess what happens when he tells her that, she doesn't accept the fact that he could be his mate, but at the end Jack stricks a deal with Isabelle. Stay with him for a couple days to see if her wolf feels what he is feeling for her and if she still wants to leave she can take the paintings that she wants. With no other choice, but to accept his offer, Isabelle stays with him only to discover even more secrets about the billionaire who calls himself her mate.

After living for three hundred years, Jack MacGrath knows that his time is almost up if he doesn't find a mate soon. Though he has accomplished a lot in his life time, he hasn't found the mate that he needs to keep him alive longer. He is told to do things to keep his adrenaline to a high, so he does, and collecting paintings from a famous yet mysterious painter made him feel different, almost better. So when he finds out that there is a painting up for auction, he bids on the painting only to have a very angry yet beautiful women willing to double the money for the painting. Soon he is intrigued to get to know her and quickly finds out that she is indeed his mate. Now he has do to anything in his power to convince her to stay with him or it will be too late for him.

I really enjoyed reading this book, there were a couple twists and turns that I enjoyed reading about. The only issue that I had with the book, which it didn't affect my overall reading experience that much, was how quickly we jump from one thing to another. The pacing was a bit fast for me, but I still liked the story plot. Isabelle has always wanted to make her father proud, as the next alpha of the pack, she needs to keep her pack's safety at heart at all times. Risking being with someone from an enemy pack is not only going to look bad on her, but also her father is never going to forgive her. So when she meets Jack, she can't accept what he tells her, yet she is willing to be with him for a couple of days. As the two start to get to know each other, and reveal their secrets, the more she feels for him. On the other hand, it does take her a very long time to finally accept that he was made for her.

Jack is your typical billionaire, he has the jet and fast cars. But his personality is sweet and caring, which is definitely swoon worthy. When he finds out that Isabelle's father is not going to let her be with him, he has to make a pretty tough decision at the end that could either hurt them or help them be together. Overall, I enjoyed reading Beauty and the Werewolf, it was a good book. I especially liked the ending, it just tied everything together nicely. I highly recommend it. :)

Great Shifter Read

You know sometimes when a mood strikes and all you want to read is a quick, fun romance? Well, I was totally hankering for that when I picked up Beauty and the Werewolf, and it really hit the spot. Sweet romance, only a little bit of drama, and two characters meant to be together. Sigh.

Isabelle is the only child of the Irish wolf pack and fated to be the alpha…and soon. Her dad is dying and before he takes his last breath, she’s determined to earn his approval. Her passion is painting, and while she’s a master at it, it’s a side of her dear old dad discouraged from the get-go. So she adopted an alias and pursued her art in secret, which turned out to be a lucrative venture. Her goal is to track down all her masterpieces (werewolves in various settings), buy them, and put them on display so her father might see at last that painting is a part of who she is and won’t affect her ability to lead the pack when he’s gone.

It just so happens Jack is a devoted admirer of Isabelle’s work and isn’t about to let her outbid him for one of her masterpieces. Fun fact about Jack: he’s dying. In this particular werewolf world, if a werewolf doesn’t find his mate within a certain time, he’ll kick the can, and that’s exactly where Jack is. He’s been surviving on adrenaline rushes, which apparently keeps the ol’ werewolf ticker going, but the moment he touches Isabelle, he knows she’s the one. Unfortunately, Isabelle isn’t so easily convinced. Worse than that, Jack is from the San Francisco McGrath pack, basically the dirtbag werewolves the Ireland pack loves to hate.

I liked both Isabelle and Jack. Isabelle didn’t hold on to her prejudices too long, and Jack was totally straight up that he wanted Isabelle, yet he wasn’t pushy about it. He’d spent his life doing everything he could to ditch the stigma of the McGrath name, and he was a total gentleman. Gentlewolf? They were a good match and both just really decent people who needed to be together. If you’re looking for a speedy, sweet yet steamy, fated werewolf read, Beauty and the Werewolf is the one to pick up.
